Never in our wildest dreams did we think we would be running an Airbnb, it happened because it felt right after we had purchased the property, and we didn’t get into this because we wanted to run a business. We got into it because we wanted an excuse to be in Italy, surrounded by good light, slower mornings, and the kind of quiet that actually lets you hear yourself think. Casa Emilia gave us that, and somewhere along the way we realised the best part wasn’t keeping it to ourselves — it was watching guests arrive stressed and leave lighter.
Every stay is a little different. Some guests want to disappear into a book on the terrace, occasionally looking at the lake and not talk to a single soul. Others want us to point them to the best restaurants, or tell them which market day is worth planning around. We love both kinds of guests equally, because both are exactly why we set this place up in the first place — to give people room to just be, however that looks for them.
