Third Eye Activating Oils

🦊 Before ritual, yoga practice or meditation there are some potent essential oils that deepen the experience and assist with activating the third eye centre.

👁 What is the third eye?

In yogic tradition the third eye, or Ajna chakra, sits just between and slightly above your eyebrows. It’s linked with intuition, inner vision, imagination and that quiet “inner knowing” we all have when we slow down enough to listen.

When it feels blocked we can feel foggy, indecisive or disconnected. When it feels open we tend to trust ourselves more, see situations more clearly and feel more connected to something bigger. 💜

💧 Here are some of our favourites

🌸 Clary Sage – This oil has long been used for its qualities to enhance deeper states and inner vision. I love to apply a drop to my finger and rub it into the area between the eyebrows right before meditation or yoga. It assists in clearing creative blocks, increases the ability to imagine new possibilities, and helps you trust your inner knowing and follow that guidance.

🌺 Sandalwood – The oil of sacred devotion. A calming, grounding oil when applied to the third eye centre, bringing feelings of peace, centring and connection. It assists with breaking through attachment to fame, wealth and the need for acceptance, teaching humility and love for divine connection.

🌸 Frankincense – This sacred oil has been used in church services, prayer, meditation and divine connection for thousands of years. I love to apply a drop to the third eye region before meditation. Frankincense is known to reveal deception and false truths, bringing you into a space of truth and understanding.

🧘 How to use them, step by step

  1. Find a quiet space and sit comfortably with your spine tall.
  2. Choose one oil (or layer all three!) and place a drop on your fingertip. If you have sensitive skin, mix it with a drop of fractionated coconut oil first.
  3. Gently press and rub it in small circles between your eyebrows, keeping well away from your eyes.
  4. Cup your hands over your nose and take three slow, deep breaths of the aroma.
  5. Close your eyes, bring your attention to that point between your brows and begin your meditation, yoga or ritual.
  6. Afterwards, sit for a moment and notice any thoughts, images or feelings that came through. Journalling them is beautiful too.

🌿 Diffuser blends for meditation

All of these can be diffused as well! Try:
– 3 drops Frankincense, 2 drops Sandalwood, 2 drops Wild Orange
– 3 drops Clary Sage, 2 drops Bergamot, 2 drops Cedarwood

Other oils we use regularly to enhance meditative states are Cedarwood, Myrrh, Cypress, Rosemary and Basil.

⚠️ Clary Sage is best avoided during pregnancy, and always keep oils away from your eyes.

Have fun and Ommmmmmmmmmmm 🙏
