Gotta love a roasted NUT with chocolate! 😁⭐️😁
I crave different recipes through the week, and often I make a simple slab that’s chunky and crunchy and oh so chocolateyyyy.
It’s one of those “I need chocolate NOW” recipes, ready in about 30 minutes, no baking, no fancy equipment, and it’s packed with real superfood goodness. ❤️
Here is the recipe 🌟
– 2 Cups of almonds
– 1/2 cup of sunflower seeds
– Extra pink salt for roasting
– 1 cup of organic fair trade cacao butter
– 1/4 cup of coconut oil
– 3/4 cup of organic fair trade cacao powder
– 1/4 cup of organic pure Maple syrup
– 1 teaspoon of Maca powder
– 3 drops of Cinnamon essential oil (dōTERRA only)
– 9 drops of Wild Orange essential oil (dōTERRA only)
🍫 How to make it, step by step
- Roast the nuts: spread the almonds and sunflower seeds on a tray with a sprinkle of pink salt and slowly toast them in a low oven (around 150°C) for 10 to 15 minutes, until golden and smelling amazing. Give them a shake halfway. Let them cool a little.
- Melt: gently melt the cacao butter and coconut oil together in a bowl over a pot of barely simmering water until liquified. NEVER in a microwave!! Low and slow keeps all the goodness in the cacao.
- Mix the chocolate: take it off the heat and whisk in the cacao powder, maple syrup and maca until smooth and glossy.
- Add the oils: stir through the Cinnamon and Wild Orange essential oils.
- Combine: add the roasted nuts and seeds and mix slowly until everything is covered.
- Set: pour onto a greaseproof paper lined tray, spread it out roughly and pop it in the fridge.
- Break and enjoy: it should be ready in about 30 minutes. Snap or cut it into chunky pieces.
Keep it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks… if it lasts that long! It freezes beautifully too.
🌱 Why it’s so good for you
– Raw cacao: one of the richest plant sources of magnesium, plus iron and antioxidant flavanols. Hello happy mood and happy heart!
– Almonds: protein, fibre, healthy fats and vitamin E for glowing skin.
– Sunflower seeds: vitamin E, selenium and magnesium in one tiny seed.
– Cacao butter and coconut oil: good fats that keep you satisfied (so one piece really is enough… sometimes 😉).
– Maca: an awesome superfood root from the Andes of South America, traditionally used for energy, stamina and hormone balance. It has a lovely malty taste with chocolate.
– Maple syrup: a natural, unrefined sweetener that still holds on to some minerals.
– Cinnamon oil: warming and lovely for supporting healthy blood sugar levels.
– Wild Orange oil: uplifting and beautiful for digestion, and it makes it taste like a chocolate orange! 🍊
💡 Mix it up
Swap the almonds for cashews, hazelnuts or macadamias, add a handful of goji berries or coconut chips, or try Peppermint oil instead of Wild Orange.
