Cacao Elixir

🍫 Cacao Elixir – By John Croft – “Cacao Addict”

When I have a mindfulness or meditation group to facilitate, I find this tonic really assists in opening the heart and stilling the mind.

Cacao has been used in ceremonies for centuries as a tonic to bring the mind, body and spirit back into balance. The Mayans and Aztecs called it the “food of the gods” and drank it in sacred rituals and celebrations. With the addition of the other ingredients it is such a healing elixir. ❤️

🌿 Ingredients

– 400ml tin coconut milk
– 1/2 cup (50g) organic cacao powder
– 1/4 cup (70g) maple syrup
– 1/8 cup cacao butter
– 1 tbsp coconut butter
– 1 tsp turmeric
– 1 tsp maca powder
– 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
– 1 drop food-grade Cinnamon essential oil
– 1 drop food-grade Cardamom essential oil
– 2 drops food-grade Wild Orange essential oil
– 1 drop food-grade Rose essential oil (or Rose Touch is fine – a few drops)
– Pinch of pink salt
– 1 cup of water

☕️ How to make it, step by step

  1. Place all the ingredients except the essential oils into a medium saucepan over medium heat, or into your Thermomix bowl.
  2. Heat to a slow simmer for 10 minutes, whisking all the time so it doesn’t catch (TM heat 50, speed 4, 8 to 10 minutes). Don’t let it boil hard!
  3. Take it off the heat and stir through the essential oils.
  4. Pour into small glasses or cups to serve.
  5. Before you sip, take a moment to hold the cup, breathe in the aroma and set an intention. 🙏

This recipe does enough for 4, or you can add a few more glasses of water to make it go for 8 to 10 people.

✨ Why it’s so good for you

– Cacao: rich in magnesium and antioxidant flavanols, and contains theobromine, a gentle heart-opening lift without the jitters of coffee.
– Turmeric and cayenne: warming spices that support a healthy inflammatory response and get the circulation going. The fats in the coconut milk help your body absorb the turmeric too.
– Maca: an Andean root, traditionally used for energy, stamina and hormone balance.
– Cinnamon and Cardamom: warming, comforting and lovely for digestion.
– Wild Orange: uplifting and joyful.
– Rose: the oil of divine love, opening the heart.

⚠️ Cacao is naturally stimulating, so you might want to enjoy this earlier in the day if you’re sensitive.
